Tremors - Summer 1In this section...
Tremors incorporates the Geography theme of 'Extreme Earth' where we learn about what lies under our feet. We look and learn about how volcanoes are formed and where they are located, considering the reasons why. We explore how volcanoes affect people's lives. We find out about what causes earthquakes, how they are measured and how they link to tsunamis. We look into the causes of tornadoes and impact they cause on the human and natural world. We combine this work with our Art to create a volcanic scene which incorporates digital images.
Our work on Tremors closely links to our Science focus 'Rocks and Soils'. We find out about the different types of rocks, their properties and where they are located. We record our findings and present these to an audience. Our practical work focuses around enquiry on which soil is the best for growing crops.
We design and create an online survey in Computing and analyse our results.
In Music we take part in Wider Opps where we all have the opportunity to learn the djembe drums and PE lessons comprise of Swimming (where we learn about water safety), Cricket and Rounders.
RE explores the importance of Allah and Mohammad to Muslims. We also learn about the importance of the Qur'an and how this is used to teach Muslims.
During this half term in PHSE we explore the theme 'Relationships'. We focus on identifying those people who are special to us and how our actions can affect each other. To keep ourselves safe, we learn about the different types of crossings there are and how to use them responsibly.
In French we begin to learn about masculine and feminine, the vocabulary associated with the weather and numbers to 20.
