Stargazers - Spring 1In this section...
Our third topic this year focuses on space and allows us to get very excited about the Science beyond our beautiful world. We are lucky to have a very informative visit from the 'Space Dome' where we learn the science behind day and night and the four seasons. We link our Space theme to Art where we experiment with pastels to create a fantasy landscape and use depth to create layers in our work.
Using this view of the Earth from Space we focus our Geography learning on the different climate zones across the globe and compare the similarities and differences. We also plan a detailed journey from one part of the world to another thinking about the impact of time zones. We then combine our knowledge to predict how we think the world will continue to evolve as a result of environmental change.
We also focus our attention to our very own British astronaut, Tim Peake, and we learn all about his inspiring journey to the International Space Station and how astronauts can live in space for such a long period of time which is fascinating!
In French we learn the different names for shops and develop our reading and writing skills.
PE comprises of Gymnastics and Rugby this half term and in Music the genre is 'Pop Ballads'.
Our space mission links well to our PHSE theme of 'Going for Goals' and we use this to explore how we reach our goals. We also consider ways of finding help when we need it.
In Computing we become Cryptographers looking into the ways messages are sent over distances and how they are encrypted to prevent others from understanding them.
Our RE topic this half term is Hinduism where we learn about what Hindus believe, the different deities they worship and where and how Hindus pray.
