Scream Machine - Autumn 1In this section...
We investigate multiple scientific concepts in the context of roller-coasters and focus a large portion of our learning on the great question 'what makes roller-coasters roll? linking this to 'Forces' in Science.
We consider the similarities, differences and locations of a range of theme parks across England, Europe and around the world through our topic of 'Settlements' in Geography. We pay particular attention to the landscape of the Isle of Wight and how erosion has affected Black Gang Chine. As part of this study we plan a route from Carshalton to the Isle of Wight.
We also incorporate this exciting topic into our English lessons and write narratives, poems and leaflets based on theme parks.
Our D&T project is to design and make a theme park ride and we use this theme to study the work of Oznat Tzadok and Karen Elzinga to create our own line drawings and backdrops. We also use our Art skills in Computing where we create computer generated artwork.
In French we continue to refine and develop our skills in asking and answering questions and PE comprises of Dance and Tennis.
We study Judaism in RE, where we learn about what makes a good leader and what Jewish people believe about God.
In PSHE we explore 'New Beginnings' showing an growing understanding of how change affects us and why we need rules in the classroom. We also look at the impact of our choices and decision making and to know where to go if we need information and help.
