Road Trip USA! - Spring 1In this section...
Hopping across the Ocean to the 'Land of the Free' takes us on an exciting road trip across America. We use our Geographical enquiry skills to learn about where America is in the world, linking it to its position to the northern and southern hemispheres and the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. We consider the reasons as to why people choose to lives in cities, like New York and compare this city to London. We also find out about the natural wonders of America and understand their significance. We use our knowledge of America to choose and combine materials to make a dream catcher and totem pole in Art.
In Science, we study Electricity by first identifying common appliances that use electricity and then creating and drawing simple circuits. We explore, test and identify materials that conduct and insulate electricity.
Our skills in French continue to develop and we begin to learn about family and possessive adjectives.
In Computing we are meteorologists and use a spreadsheet to collect weather data ready for analysis to help us create our own weather forecast video.
We continue to learn the cello or violin as part of our Wider Opps and our PE lessons comprise of Dance, Handball and Netball.
In PSHE we explore the theme of 'Going for Goals', thinking about what it means to be an effective learner and understand that different people learn in different ways. We think about habits and why they are hard to break. We share the different ways we can stay healthy through exercise.
