Monthly MagpiesIn this section...
We seek to equip children with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. We aim for our pupils to be educated citizens, and therefore introduce them to the best that has been thought and said, and help children to engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.
As a result, our 'Monthly Magpies' are top tips and recommendations for things you can do at home with your family and friends. We wanted to share some of the fun things that go on in our local area, and beyond and we give you some interesting new ideas that you might not have thought of before. Each month, we will share some information about significant figures and events with some ideas for activities you can do.
We want to be very clear that these activities are not homework and there is no obligation to take part in them. Our goal is to give you some fun and different ideas about things to do with your children. Just as the children ‘magpie’ good ideas for their writing in school, we hope you will be able to magpie some of our ideas for your family.
If you do something from our magpie list and would like to share it in assembly, please email photos to the school office (firstname.lastname@example.org), or feel free to drop things into our 'Magpie Box' by the school office. If your work is shared, you will receive a certificate in our Monthly Magpie Assembly.
We look forward to hearing about what you have learnt, appreciated and enjoyed experiencing.
