Memory Box - Autumn 1In this section...
During the first part of the Autumn term our topic is History focused where we think about 'Who am I and Where am I from?' We will be thinking about our memories, family celebrations from the past, understanding how we have changed since we were born. We will also have the opportunity to ask questions and sort old and new objects and play some games from the past. The topic culminates with us making a memory box to help children in the future understand what life was like for children today.
Visitors come in to talk about babies and toddlers growing up and how life would have been different for children in the past.
In Geography we learn about our 'Wonderful Weather' and explore the different types of weather we experience in Britain thinking about how this affects us. We link our work with our Science topic 'Seasonal Changes' and learn about the seasons, the months of the year and record and make observations about the weather. We begin to look at the globe and atlases to find the hot and cold places in the world and understand the dangers of weather and how we can keep ourselves safe. We look at New Beginnings in PHSE, thinking about the importance of rules and generating a class contract. We also learn about strangers and know what to do if we get lost.
RE focuses on 'Why we are thankful?' and 'Harvest' celebrations.
In Computing we learn and develop our skills to make a celebration card.
Our Music focuses on the Hip Hop style where we start to explore pulse, rhythm and pitch.
PE lessons comprise of Yoga and Games, focusing on the skills linked to rolling.
Art lessons link to our History theme and we will be developing the skills of using lines to represent object we see as well as creating self-portraits.
