Burps, Bottoms & Bile - Summer 1In this section...
During out journey through our digestive system, we learn in Science about the journey our food embarks upon once it has entered our mouths; from how our teeth break the food down through to what happens to our food when it reaches our stomachs. Linking to this, we look at different food chains across the animal kingdom.
We also link this theme to our study of Ancient Egypt, where not only do we learn about Tutankhamen and the riches found in his tomb considering what this tells us about life in Ancient Egypt, but we also learn about their beliefs and practices when someone dies.
We use our enterprising skills in D&T to design and create a healthy snack pack which we sell to the rest of the school.
We continue with our Wider Opps focus of learning the cello or violin in Music.
PE comprises of Gymnastics and Tennis and in French we learn about body parts, gender and food.
Our PHSE focus for this half term is 'Relationships' where we explore important people in our lives and to understand the emotion of loss. We also learn to understand the difference between risk and danger.
In RE we study Islam and the reasons for Ramadan, leading up to the festival of Eid.
The Art skills we develop this half term link to still life and accurately recording shapes, texture and colour.
The Computing skill we learn over this half term is designing a computer controlled toy.
