Bright Lights, Big City - Autumn 2In this section...
The second part of the Autumn term continues with a History focus as we learn about the 'Great Fire of London'. We learn about the main events of this and the importance of Samuel Pepys' diary in telling us about what happened. We look at the buildings of London in 1666 and compare these to the buildings making up our skyline today.
When the Queen comes to visit we prepare and make healthy fruit skewers as part of our D&T project.
In Geography, we study the UK understanding that it is part of a union of four countries. We learn to locate these on maps and name some major towns and cities too.
RE focuses on Christianity and the events which make up the Christmas story (Nativity). We find out what Christians believe about God and why Jesus is so important to Christians.
In Computing we learn and develop our skills to answer yes/no questions using digital images.
Our Music focuses on performance as we prepare for our Christmas production.
PE lessons comprise of Yoga and Games, focusing on the skills throwing and catching.
Art lessons link to our History theme and we will be using our drawing skills to create a skyline, exploring collage to map a tube map and looking at the work of Banksy.
During this half term in PHSE we explore the theme 'Getting on and Falling out'. We focus on bullying and friendship, thinking about kindness. We learn about crossing the road safely and the London Fire Brigade teach us how to keep safe with fire.
