Annual Survey ResultsIn this section...
Our last parent/carer survey was conducted in July 2018. 199 separate responses were received (some parents complete separate questionnaires for each of their children while others respond on one questionnaire for more than one child).
We are pleased with the very positive feedback and that in the case of all questions asked, there was an increase in the number of parents agreeing or strongly agreeing (compared to the last survey undertaken in January 2017). Of particular note is the 13% increase in the proportion of parents who feel that the school is well led and managed; the 15% increase in the proportion of parents who feel that the school responds well to any other concern or question raised and the 10% increase in the proportion of parents who feel that they receive valuable information from the school about their child's progress.

Parents have always been highly supportive of the school, but many of the comments received in this survey exemplify how we have continued to improve the school. For example, when asked what they like best/want to keep about Barrow Hedges some parents responded:
“We like the professional standards set at all times and the high quality of care education that is very evident; the way the staff work to help develop the pupils self-confidence and self-esteem. We are very happy with the clever and fun activities that the school put in place to make learning fun and engaging. I am most impressed with the high expectations that the school has for its pupils and the high standards set.” (Year 2 parent).
“The continuous improvement – teachers and staff are collaborating and endeavour to improve the teaching methods, finding more effective ways to engage the students. The teachers are passionate and devoted.” (Year 6 parent).
“EYFS is wonderful – the teachers and TAs, the environment, the stimulating topics, many of the staff are very committed to making the school a wonderful place to learn. The Inclusion/ELSA support is brilliant.” (Reception parent).
“They have a strong emphasis on ensuring they are raising/teaching well behaved, independent individuals who respect themselves and others.” (Year 5 parent).
